Congratulations to Cheyenne Mtn. Junior High of Colorado Springs and Newton Middle School of Littleton, Colorado as they are named the top two finalists for the CAMLA/Lifetouch School of The Year Award for the state of Colorado! The CAMLA award ceremony will be held on June 16th, in Denver Colorado at the famous CASA BONITA RESTAURANT Theatre. The festivities start at noon, with all Denver TV Stations Invited to attend! The NAMSP Board will select the 1st and 2nd place winners in each division by email ballot on June 16th, to be announced in Nashville on 6-26-12.

A huge thank you to Region 2, (Southeast) Director, Jay Bonstingl! Jay pointed out that two of our newest members were misplaced by district location. Please welcome Dr. Tameshia Grimes and Casta Childress to NAMSP from Chesterfield, VA, instead of Maryland. This leaves Chesterfield with 6 new members this year and moves Virginia ahead in the seeding for the "March Madness" Membership Contest Bracket!

School Synopsis(essay) judging criterion:
I. School Programs That Promote Adcademic Achievement (0 to 33 pts awarded) (*Maximum 4 page answer allowed)
II. School Programs That Promote School Discipline, Student Motivation and School Climate( 0 to 33 pts. awarded) (Maximum 4 page answer allowed)
III. Evidence of Sustained Effort of Improvement In Academic Achievement/Performance (0 to 33 pts. awarded)( Maimum 4 page answer allowed)
IV. School Free and Reduced Lunch Percentage (used as an indicator of growth/environment). (no pts. awarded)
V. Five Year Profile of State Test Scores (Only used as a tie breaker)(no pts. awarded)
*Deadline for submission of Entry Synopsis is 4-1-11.
**The top 5 highest total scores in each division: JH and MS will comprise the National Finalists and will be announced on the NAMSP website on 5-1-12.
*All entrants are judged from the merits and content of their synopsis submitted. No identifying information is submitted with each entry other than the MASCOT NAME of the school and their entry number.

It was confirmed today by Julie Hance of Lifetouch Studios, that Lifetouch has authorized a two-year extension of the NAMSP/Lifetouch "School of The Year Award" program for both Middle School and Junior High School Divisions! As last year, each national champion school will receive a check for $1,500.00, a foyer banner and beautiful crystal trophy! 4 Runners Up, in each division will receive a check for $500.00, a foyer banner and trophy! This year, all national finalists, when announced later in this year, will receive a check for $100.00!
Entry fees for this year's award, are as follows: Charter Members-$10, Members joining after 11-14-2010- $20, New Members joining after 11-14-2011-$30.00
